“When we see you all our fears are washed away.”

Lianne:

My 5 year old son came running into my bedroom in the middle of the night, scared frantically from a night terror. He was shaking, was so distressed he struggled to express what was going on. The fear had captivated him and it was like he was in a trance of panic.

As he leaped into my bed, I reached out my arm to him and pulled him in for a cuddle; he glared into my eyes, grabbed onto my hand tightly and was immediately calm and asleep as if nothing had happened. Immediately peaceful, immediately calm, immediately still.

I couldn’t sleep for a while after this and knew God was trying to speak to me through it. I believe he was showing me that when we are distressed, anxious, full of fear or perhaps in the middle of a horrendous storm which seems so overwhelming; if we just turn and in that moment fix our eyes on Jesus and take his hand, that fear will immediately depart from us.

As my son ran straight to me and saw me; the fear left him and he was calm. God wants to calm our hearts, calm our storms, fill us with his peace and take our burdens from us. However we need to look for him, reach out to him, take his hand and fix our eyes on him.

“Let us keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.” Hebrews 12:2
